Big Swedish Dreams Coming to Chantilly: IKEA Plans Massive Store at Dulles Expo Center

Hold onto your meatballs, friends, a Scandinavian giant is about to move in next door! 🧳

According to local news outlet The Burn, plans are underway to transform a huge chunk of the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly into a 109,000‑square‑foot IKEA wonderland. This will be a mid sized home furnishings store larger than the boutique plan and but smaller than the giant store in Woodbridge. Translation: you get a full showroom and those famous meatball lunches without having to drive south of the Potomac.

Here are a few highlights:

Size and scope: The project will repurpose the South Hall of the Dulles Expo Center, giving us a full line of Swedish sofas, lamps, and kitchen cabinets.

Dining on site: Yes, your IKEA shopping day will still include an on site restaurant.

Timeline: Permits and contractor hiring are still in progress, so there’s no official construction start date yet. In

From a real estate perspective, this move is huge. A major retailer like IKEA can drive foot traffic and spur growth in surrounding businesses.

I know I can't wait to check it out!
