If you’ve been watching the sports and fitness scene in Loudoun County, there’s some exciting news on the horizon! A big new pickleball facility called The Picklr is preparing to open its doors this spring in Sterling, bringing a brand-new hub for players of all ages and skill levels right here to northern Virginia.
A Major Pickleball Destination
The Picklr is moving into a massive 30,000-square-foot space at the Cascades Marketplace shopping center, the same spot that once housed a Marshall’s department store.
Once open, this brand-new venue will feature 10 indoor pickleball courts, including two championship-sized courts that are perfect for everything from friendly weekend matches to more competitive play.
The facility will also include:
- A full pro shop stocked with paddles, gear, and accessories
- A private event space for lessons, parties, or community gatherings
- Programs for players of all ages and skill levels through its Picklr Academy (including both adult and junior clinics)
Whether you’re a seasoned pickleball player or completely new to the sport, this looks like it could be your new go-to spot for year-round play.
A Community-First Pickleball Club
According to leadership from The Picklr, the Sterling location was chosen with community engagement in mind. “Bringing The Picklr to Sterling is about giving the community a place that truly puts players first,” said owner and operator Zac Baumbach in a recent press release.
What does that mean for Loudoun County residents? Expect:
- A climate-controlled environment, so you can play no matter the weather
- Skill-building sessions and coaching
- Organized events and open play that encourage connection and fun
- This fits perfectly with the growing popularity of pickleball across the region — a trend confirmed by other local facilities and leagues popping up to meet demand.
A National Brand Arrives Locally
The Picklr isn’t just a one-off local club, it’s part of a national network of pickleball facilities, with hundreds of locations already open or in development across the country.
What’s Next
While an exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet, The Picklr is targeting Spring 2026 and is already gearing up for membership and programming launches.
